The basics

Calculus vs. Real People

Classes: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 10:45am-12:15pm, 2-105.
Recitations: Thursday, 3:45-4:45pm, 2-105.
Midterms: Wednesday July 9, 10:45-12:15am, 2-105.
Finals: Thursday July 31, 9:00-11:00am, 2-105.
Homework assignments: Compulsory. Turn in to Omar by 8:30pm each Tuesday.
Office hours: Sunday, 7-8:30pm at Simmons, or by individual appointment.

Curriculum

A wild run through multivariable calculus, starting with partial derivatives, implicit differentiation, Taylor's Theorem, change of variables, Lagrange multipliers, plane polar coordinates, polar curves, double integrals, triple integrals, cylindrical and spherical polar coordinates, exact differentials, line integrals, Green's Theorem in the plane, vectors, dot product, cross product, triple products, grad, directional derivatives, tangent planes, line, surface and volume integrals of scalar and vector fields, div, curl, Maxwell's equations, Laplacian, Divergence Theorem, Stokes's Theorem, etc.

The Calculus Challenge score board

Solutions to the puzzles may be submitted by email to thecalculuschallenge@gmail.com by midnight on the day they were set (this excludes The Calculus Challenge 0, which is due on Sunday, June 22 at 6pm). Late entries will not be accepted. A prize for the best performance will be awarded after Calculus Challenge 16. In the case of a tie two (or more) prizes will be made available.
